<description>Ghostty 1.4 adds 100% Kitty graphics protocol coverage, Kitty clipboard (OSC 5522), scrollback compression, and a new OpenGL renderer for Linux.︀︄︇︀︅︉︀︅︀︀︃︀︀︅︅︀︅︊︀︄︆︀︃︄
• Adds new clipboard capabilities: the Kitty clipboard protocol (OSC 5522) on macOS and GTK, letting terminal programs read and write arbitrary clipboard formats (images, HTML) and select among available formats; paste events via mode 5522 so programs can learn what formats a paste contains, enabling pasted-image acceptance; and a new `clipboard-write-limit-bytes` configuration (default 64 MiB) that caps the size of a single clipboard write, with over-limit writes failing and leaving the clipboard untouched.︀︄︇︀︅︉︀︅︀︀︃︀︀︅︅︀︅︊︀︄︆︀︃︄
• Transparently compresses scrollback that isn&apos;t visible, reducing physical memory usage by 70–90% for typical text-heavy history; compression runs only while the terminal is idle and decompresses on demand.
• Raises the default scrollback limit from 10 MB to 50 MB per terminal, made possible by scrollback compression.
• Adds support for Kitty graphics animation and relative placements, making Ghostty the first non-Kitty terminal to achieve 100% coverage of the published Kitty graphics specification.
• Introduces a new OpenGL rendering pipeline on Linux and FreeBSD using EGL on its own thread, exporting frames as DMABUFs with triple-buffering, eliminating blurry text under fractional display scaling.
• Adds split drag-and-drop rearrangement on GTK, allowing splits to be dragged to any side of any split across tabs and windows.
• Adds macOS 27 (Golden Gate) support while maintaining compatibility back to macOS 13 (Ventura).

<description>Ghostty 1.2.0 adds command palette, SSH terminfo/env opt-in features, custom shaders, background images, progress bars, and quick terminal sizing.
• `toggle_command_palette` keybind action enables a new UI command palette accessible via `ctrl+shift+p` (GTK) or `cmd+shift+p` (macOS) to invoke keybind actions
• `ssh-env` opt-in feature sets TERM=xterm-256color and forwards env vars for SSH sessions with legacy remote machines
• `ssh-terminfo` opt-in feature copies local Ghostty terminfo to the remote host to enable full feature support over SSH
• New `quick-terminal-size` configuration key allows percentage or pixel sizing (e.g., `25%`, `600px`) and supports comma-separated primary/secondary axis values for the quick terminal window
• `background-image` configuration key allows specifying a terminal background image with supporting keys: `background-image-opacity`, `background-image-position`, `background-image-fit`, and `background-image-repeat`
• Custom shaders now receive cursor state information, enabling effects like trails or smears on the cursor via custom shader logic
