THE CYBER TOOLCHAIN NO. 013
Tail
THE DAILY RELEASE FIREHOSE
PUBLISHED JULY 12, 2026 · EVERY DAY
EDITIONS tail grep head ls diff uniq

The daily firehose — everything the toolchain shipped today, already filtered.

We read every release from the 1309 tools on our watchlist at the source — GitHub and GitLab release notes, vendor release pages and changelogs, project blogs and feeds, vendor press releases, and the source code behind the tag. Bug-fix-only releases and non-product newsroom noise are dropped; what's left is summarized down to the new capability, how to try it, and any screenshots or videos the release itself published. Every entry links to the sources it was built from.

xsrfprobe

Sources Release notes → v3.0.0 Notes

The Prime Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF) Audit and Exploitation Toolkit.

XSRFProbe v3 rebuilds the CSRFCSRFCross-site request forgery, an attack that makes a signed-in browser send an unwanted request to a site. The site may accept the request using the victim's existing session. engine with 25 categorized checks, headless-browser SameSite bypasses, and JSON reporting.

└──▷ TRY IT
Run the full CSRF audit including browser-dependent SameSite bypass tests and get a machine-readable JSON report for pipeline consumption.
$ xsrfprobe --url https://target.example.com --browser --json
Limit crawler scope to a shallow pass on a large site so CI finishes quickly — cap URLs, depth, and wall-clock time.
$ xsrfprobe --url https://target.example.com --max-urls 50 --max-depth 2 --crawl-timeout 120 --json
Auto-validate generated PoCs in headless Firefox and point to a non-PATH geckodriver binary for a custom test environment.
$ xsrfprobe --url https://target.example.com --browser --auto-validate-poc --geckodriver-path /opt/geckodriver/geckodriver
  • Adds a full battery of 25 named checks (D1–A1) covering token tampering, method/Content-Type overrides, Origin/Referer bypasses, SameSite cookie analysis, and token strength — each with a unique ID, severity rating, and exploitability notes.
  • New token-tampering checks (T2–T8) actively probe GET↔POST method switching, token omission, empty values, cross-session replay, double-submit cookies, and custom-header token forgery.
  • New Origin/Referer bypass checks (R0–R2c, O1–O3) test header removal, regex tricks, subdomain tricks, and Origin: null against real-world validation implementations.
  • New SameSite bypass checks (S2–S4) probe SameSite=Strict via client-side redirect gadgets and sibling-subdomain XSSXSSCross-site scripting, an attack that runs malicious script in another user's browser through a trusted site. It can steal data or perform actions using the user's session., and SameSite=Lax via cookie-refresh/OAuth flows.
  • Adds optional headless Firefox (Selenium) integration via --browser for browser-dependent SameSite bypass tests and auto-validation of generated PoCs.

  • New bounded crawler with configurable --max-urls, --max-depth, and --crawl-timeout flags to control scan scope.
  • Adds --json flag for machine-readable JSON reports; each finding includes test_id, severity, and an exploitability note.
  • Supports optional subdomain enumeration via crt.sh for sibling-domain SameSite bypass testing.
  • Generates tailored, auto-validated exploitable CSRF proof-of-concept pages per finding.
  • Adds response diffing/benchmark engine to reduce false positives before declaring an endpoint vulnerable.
