THE DAILY RELEASE FIREHOSE
PUBLISHED SEPTEMBER 13, 2026 · EVERY DAY
EDITIONStail|grep|head|ls|diff|uniq
The daily firehose — everything the toolchain shipped today, already filtered.
We read every release from the 1309 tools on our watchlist at the source — GitHub and GitLab release notes, vendor release pages and changelogs, project blogs and feeds, vendor press releases, and the source code behind the tag. Bug-fix-only releases and non-product newsroom noise are dropped; what's left is summarized down to the new capability, how to try it, and any screenshots or videos the release itself published. Every entry links to the sources it was built from.
READ AS
Focus:What features shipped and what problems they solve, plus launches, packaging and where the market is moving.
Leaves out:Command-line flags, API-only deltas, usage examples, and releases that are only refinements.
Focus:New security controls, new APIs, and product improvements you can put to work, plus anything an upgrade breaks.
Leaves out:Launch and marketing news, governance, pricing, and documentation changes with no operational effect.
Focus:Dashboards, reporting, and anything you can quantify: metrics, coverage, risk scores, compliance impact, vendor moves.
Leaves out:Settings, flags, API and command-line detail, library bumps, and minor releases with no reporting or posture angle.
Focus:API, SDK and MCP changes, new libraries, breaking changes in what you import, and cyber tooling.
Leaves out:Governance, SOC operations, and vendor launches with no developer surface.

What stands out across today's releases, grouped by what it lets you do. Every tool named links to its entry below.
Three unrelated things stand out. JumpCloud gave AI agents their own identity records and shipped a password vault, so agent access stops riding on a human's credentials. Veracode's veracode fix sca writes the dependency patch and safe upgrade path from the terminal. RegScale added 60+ CLI integration commands, pulling SIEMSIEMSecurity information and event management, collecting logs from many systems and correlating events to find suspicious activity. Analysts use it to investigate alerts and incidents., CNAPPCNAPPA cloud-native application protection platform that combines checks across cloud configuration, workloads and development. Fix a vulnerable dependency from the terminal instead of hand-reading the upgrade matrix
veracode fix sca generates patches and safe upgrade paths for vulnerable dependencies at the command line, and Semgrep's Autofix is now on for everyone — the step that disappears is a developer manually working out which minor bump actually clears the CVE without breaking the build. Socket's Coana engine adds PHP/Composer, Rust/Cargo and multi-root JVMJVMThe Java Virtual Machine, a runtime maintained by Oracle (and implemented by others) that executes Java bytecode on any OS, giving cyber tools a portable, garbage-collected environment with a large ecosystem of libraries. reachability, so the triage list shrinks to dependencies whose vulnerable code is actually called.
Give an AI agent its own identity rather than letting it borrow a human's
JumpCloud's Agent Identities create a non-human identitynon-human identityA non-human identity, an account or credential used by software or a device rather than a person. A compatible server exposes capabilities an assistant can use through a common interface. usage discovery to surface where agents are already reaching; ConductorOne adds call-time classifiers on agent actions. Until now agents typically ran on a service account or a developer's token, which means no way to revoke one agent, and no audit trail that distinguishes it from the person it borrowed from.
Cover the login surfaces that a single-target scan or a password-only vault misses
Intruder's Additional domains field lets an authenticated web app scan reach the API backend and auth provider on separate subdomains in one run, instead of leaving the parts of the app that actually hold the session untested. 1Password now creates, manages and shares passkeyspasskeysPhishing-resistant sign-in credentials built on FIDO2/WebAuthn: the device holds a private key and proves possession instead of the user typing a password. They sync across a user's devices. across extension and native apps, with Watchtower flagging logins ready to move off passwords.
evil-winrm-py v1.7.0 adds an MCPMCPModel Context Protocol, a standard for connecting AI applications to external tools and data sources. A compatible server exposes capabilities an assistant can use through a common interface. server mode that exposes WinRM sessions as tools for AI agents, plus support for connecting to constrained JEAJEAA PowerShell feature from Microsoft that lets administrators constrain remote sessions to a defined set of commands and roles, limiting what any user or service account can do on a Windows system. endpoints.︀︄︇︀︅︉︀︅︀︀︃︀︀︅︅︀︅︊︀︄︆︀︃︄︀︄︇︀︅︉︀︅︀︀︃︀︀︅︅︀︅︊︀︄︆︀︃︄︀︄︇︀︅︉︀︅︀︀︃︀︀︅︅︀︅︊︀︄︆︀︃︄︀︄︇︀︅︉︀︅︀︀︃︀︀︅︅︀︅︊︀︄︆︀︃︄

Continuous Scanning modenew75how completely this was documenteddepth35/40specificity25/30actionability15/3075 / 100
Adds Continuous Scanning mode: triggers a full scan on every meaningful commit to a repository's default branch (including merged pull requests), re-examines what changed on follow-up scans, and closes findings fixed by those commits. Available on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket Cloud, and Bitbucket Server, and configurable per organization, tag, or repository.
Breaking changes to API response fieldsbreaking75how completely this was documenteddepth30/40specificity25/30actionability20/3075 / 100
On repository objects, lastScanError is replaced by lastScanFailure; consumers reading lastScanError will receive no value and must switch. Eleven measurements on the security posture endpoint now return no value where there is nothing to measure, so consumers must treat these fields as optional. On secret findings, the dismissal explanation generated by ZeroPath is withheld from API responses; only a reviewer's own note is returned.
Microsoft Teams notifications via Adaptive Cardsnew65how completely this was documenteddepth30/40specificity20/30actionability15/3065 / 100

Scoped scanner permissionsnew60how completely this was documenteddepth25/40specificity20/30actionability15/3060 / 100
Adds scoped scanner permissions so that rules, repository context, and scan location pages reflect the actions a member holds; the Teams permission editor now lists every grantable permission.
Plan-first mode for Assistantnew55how completely this was documenteddepth25/40specificity15/30actionability15/3055 / 100
Adds Plan first mode for the Assistant: proposes an editable plan before anything runs, with the option to save the approved plan as a schedule, trigger, or playbook.
Repository size measurement for more languagesnew50how completely this was documenteddepth20/40specificity25/30actionability5/3050 / 100
Adds Terraform, Svelte, Vue, Solidity, Elixir, Dart, protobuf, and Genero to repository size measurement, enabling analysis-depth scaling for those codebases.
On repository objects, lastScanError is replaced by lastScanFailure; any API consumer or integration reading lastScanError will receive no value and must update to lastScanFailure.

Non-document national ID lookup and digital ID wallet supportnew90how completely this was documenteddepth35/40specificity30/30actionability25/3090 / 100
Adds non-document national ID-number lookup: the user submits their national ID number and personal details, checked against an authoritative source (government register, credit bureau, or similar) with no photo or upload required.︀︄︇︀︅︉︀︅︀︀︃︀︀︅︅︀︅︊︀︄︆︀︃︄ Per-country method controls are configurable via the Countries tab on the ID Verification step (and the API) to enable or disable document capture, national ID lookup, and digital ID wallets country by country. Fallback behaviour is configurable per failure mode — partial match, no match, no source response, or cancelled/timed-out wallet sign-in — each routing the user to document capture or declining the session. Lookup retry count is configurable from one to five attempts (default two), with only source-answered attempts counted toward billing and format-invalid numbers never reaching the source. Digital ID wallet support is on the roadmap for MitID, BankID, itsme, Vipps, iDIN, UAE PASS, gov.br, and EUDI Wallet, configurable in the console as Coming soon but not yet enabled for production; sandbox applications can already test every wallet in the catalog with simulated results independent of production availability. Mobile SDKs 4.8.0 (iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter) surface national ID lookup and digital ID wallet sign-in on a single entry screen alongside document capture, with on-device field validation before submission.
Enable national ID-number lookup for a specific country so users in that country can verify without uploading a document — useful when reducing drop-off in markets with high government-register coverage.
📍In the Didit console, open your workflow, select the ID Verification step, go to the Countries tab, find the target country, and toggle Non-document lookup on. Configure the failure-mode switches (partial match, no match, no source response) to either fall back to document capture or decline the session, then save.
Upgrade the Web SDK to 4.8.0 to pick up the non-document lookup flow and the corrected SDK_VERSION constant in your CI pipeline.
Screened entity mapping in AML Screening nodenew80how completely this was documenteddepth30/40specificity25/30actionability25/3080 / 100
Adds a Screened entity tab to the AML Screening node so practitioners can map screening inputs (name, date of birth, country, document number) directly from Document AI fields, questionnaire answers, expected_details, or metadata — enabling AML screening on flows using non-standardised documents such as tax certificates or notarised incorporation deeds, without an ID Verification or KYBKYBKnow Your Business — a regulatory compliance process for verifying the legal identity, ownership, and legitimacy of a business entity, used by cyber tools to screen counterparties or customers against fraud and sanctions risk. Registry step. Adds an Entity type selector to screen either a person or company, routing company searches against company records, and an Incomplete screening data control (default Review, with a No action option) for flows that knowingly hold only partial identity data.
When your AML screening flow is built around a Document AI step (e.g. a notarised deed) rather than an ID Verification step, configure the Screened entity tab to pull identity fields — including the automatically-detected full_name — into the screening node.
📍In the workflow console, select your AML Screening node › open the Screened entity tab › set Entity type to person › under Field sources, map name to your Document AI field (e.g. full_name), date of birth to dob, and country to country_of_issue › set Incomplete screening data to Review › publish the workflow.
