Summary
ai-safe2-framework is an open-source GRCGRCGovernance, Risk, and Compliance — a framework for aligning IT controls with business policy, regulatory requirements, and risk management so organizations can audit and report on their posture systematically. framework, dual-licensed under MIT and CC BY-SA 4.0, that defines controls for governing agentic AI systems and mapping them to compliance standards such as ISOISOA widely adopted international standards body that publishes technical specifications; cyber tools cite ISO standards to signal compliance with recognized benchmarks for quality, security, or interoperability. 42001, NIST AI RMFNIST AI RMFA voluntary framework published by NIST that gives organizations a structured process for identifying, assessing, and managing risks introduced by AI systems, giving cyber tools a common vocabulary and governance scaffold., and the EU AI ActEU AI ActEU regulation that classifies AI systems by risk level and imposes compliance obligations—documentation, transparency, human oversight—on developers and deployers, shaping how AI-based cyber tools are built and sold in Europe.. It ships as a set of specification documents, control mappings, and enforcement scripts you drop into a project or agent workspace, with a CLI for generating compliance reports and setting failure thresholds by tier, rather than a hosted service. It targets compliance and AI governance teams working with agentic or multi-agent (swarm) systems who need audit evidence rather than a code library.
Ai-Safe2-Framework provides governance, risk, and compliance controls for securing agentic AI systems and non-human identities.
How ai-safe2-framework helps
Which of our agentic AI controls are missing evidence before an audit?
scans the project against the 161-control core dataset and reports coverage gaps by control ID, so a missing artifact shows up before an auditor asks for it
Which of our agent or MCP configurations would let a subagent read credential files?
matches file access and path patterns against known exfiltration surfaces and flags the ones that would expose secrets like production environment files
Are our AI systems compliant with more than one regulatory framework at once?
maps the same control evidence against 32 frameworks including ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF, and the EU AI Act, so one assessment produces evidence for all of them rather than separate audits
Which of our environments are safe to let an agent act in right now?
evaluates host, shell, CI, and configuration posture and returns an allow, deny, or hold verdict with an exit code a pipeline can act on
Did last week's agent or model behavior drift from its established baseline?
compares a current inventory of assets, harness indicators, and configuration hashes against an earlier recorded baseline and surfaces what changed as coverage gaps or drift
Which of our multi-agent (swarm) interactions are only checked on one side of the exchange?
tracks each control result against its enforcement plane — agent to model, agent to agent, or agent to tool — and refuses to treat a pass on one plane as coverage on another

Nine scores for ai-safe2-framework, each built from the releases, notes and API history this site tracks — and, on Researcher and Business, where it stands among every measured tool in its category and how that has moved.
Score cards are part of every paid plan.
See plans → Already subscribed? Sign in →Trajectory
Blank means never measured; nothing here is a filled-in zero.
Peer standings are included with Researcher and Business. See how this tool ranks against its competitors, using data we don't publish anywhere else.
See plans →Each score is 0–100 on a published rubric, derived from data this site already shows. A dimension we cannot measure says so — it is never scored 0 and never enters a rank.
How this is scored
- Shipping velocity — releases a month over the last 12 months, on a log scale where 16 a month scores 100. Needs 3 releases in the window.
- Documentation quality — the release-notes rubric published on the analytics page, unchanged.
- Breaking-change discipline — the share of releases carrying a breaking change (none scores 100, half or more scores 0). Only projects that label breaking changes are measured: a clean record cannot be told from an unlabelled one.
- Maintenance risk — quiet time measured against the tool's own release cadence (quiet longer than 90 days and three typical gaps scores 0), plus the number of active maintainers and whether contributors are growing, where known. Higher is lower risk.
- Innovation & surface — new capabilities in the feature ledger this year, API and MCP operations added, and the share of commits that are features: the mean of whichever we hold.
- Community health (open-source tools only) — each is a direction, not a size: contributors this year against last, the bus factor now against a year ago, and issues closed per issue opened, where steady scores 50, doubled 100 and halved 0; plus the median time to a maintainer's first reply (an hour scores about 100, a month or more 0). A commercial card has no repository and carries none of the four.
- Documented delivery (commercial tools) — when a vendor's documented new capabilities have slowed against its own baseline, that counts against the overall standing as heavily as two low dimensions. Steady delivery, or too little history to judge, leaves the standing alone; it is never a sixth score.
- Open-source tools are scored on repository signals; commercial tools on their published changelog. Ranks compare tools within one category and one profile and need at least five measured peers; the overall standing needs three ranked dimensions. Best-in-breed or consolidator is a shape, not a quality, and is never scored.
