Endor Labs is a software supply chainsoftware supply chainThe dependencies, tools and processes used to build and deliver software. Compromising one part can affect the products or organizations that rely on it. security platform that detects vulnerabilities and malicious dependencies in open source code.

Summary

Endor Labs is a commercial software supply chain security platform run as a hosted service that teams connect to their repositories and CI pipelines. Beyond its core SCASCASoftware composition analysis, identifying third-party dependencies and checking them for known vulnerabilities and license issues. It covers software a team uses rather than writes itself. and SASTSASTStatic application security testing, analyzing source code or compiled code for vulnerabilities without running the application. It helps developers find problems before deployment. scanning, it ships a Package Firewall that sits between developer machines and registries like npm, PyPI, and Go, blocking flagged installs with a 403 before the package ever touches disk, and enforcing cooldown windows on newly published versions. A Threat Center gives a tenant-wide view of emerging malicious packages and which projects they affect. It is aimed at application security and platform teams who own dependency risk rather than individual developers, and its documentation describes it as a unified alternative to running separate SCA, SAST, and secrets tools. With 106 releases in the window tracked and the latest just 12 days ago, development is active and frequent.

Endor Labs is a software supply chain security platform that detects vulnerabilities and malicious dependencies in open source code.

How Endor Labs helps

Which of the vulnerabilities in my dependency tree can actually be reached by an attacker?

traces call paths from entry points through first-party code into the flagged package using deterministic call-graph analysis paired with LLM reasoning, and separates exploitable findings from ones that sit in unreachable code

Which vulnerabilities in a container image are actually mine to fix versus baked into the base image?

attributes each finding to the base or application layer, then compares the current base image against a refreshed build, the next version, and the latest version to show whether upgrading the base resolves it

Can I remove a vulnerable transitive dependency without changing my build?

ships a patched artifact you install into your local Maven repository under a distinct version string, then override the transitive reference in dependency management so the rest of the build is untouched, with an attestation file to independently verify the diff against upstream commits before installing

Is a malicious package about to land in my build before anyone notices?

sits between package managers and public registries, classifies every newly uploaded package within minutes using a real-time malware feed with multi-pass LLM, static, and behavioral analysis, and blocks flagged versions at install time so they never reach disk

Which of my projects are exposed to a malicious package campaign that just broke publicly?

Threat Center maps newly discovered malicious packages against your monitored projects and shows which ones pull in the affected package, with research write-ups added as the campaign develops

Does a finding reflect how my application actually authenticates and who its real users are?

parses repository files like agent and rules configs plus infrastructure manifests to build a deployment and access model automatically, and lets teams add natural-language architecture context that AI SAST checks against the codebase to classify true and false positives

Score card

  1. Shipping velocity releases a month, last 12 months
  2. Documentation quality release-notes rubric, 0–100
  3. Breaking-change discipline how rarely a release breaks users, and notice given
  4. Maintenance risk quiet time against its own cadence, maintainers
  5. Innovation & surface new capabilities, API and MCP surface

Five scores for Endor Labs, each built from the releases, notes and API history this site tracks — and, on Researcher and Business, where it stands among every measured tool in its category and how that has moved.

Score cards are part of every paid plan.

See plans →

Each score is 0–100 on a published rubric, derived from data this site already shows. A dimension we cannot measure says so — it is never scored 0 and never enters a rank.

How this is scored
  • Shipping velocity — releases a month over the last 12 months, on a log scale where 16 a month scores 100. Needs 3 releases in the window.
  • Documentation quality — the release-notes rubric published on the analytics page, unchanged.
  • Breaking-change discipline — the share of releases carrying a breaking change (none scores 100, half or more scores 0). Only projects that label breaking changes are measured: a clean record cannot be told from an unlabelled one.
  • Maintenance risk — quiet time measured against the tool's own release cadence (quiet longer than 90 days and three typical gaps scores 0), plus the number of active maintainers and whether contributors are growing, where known. Higher is lower risk.
  • Innovation & surface — new capabilities in the feature ledger this year, API and MCP operations added, and the share of commits that are features: the mean of whichever we hold.
  • Community health (open-source tools only) — each is a direction, not a size: contributors this year against last, the bus factor now against a year ago, and issues closed per issue opened, where steady scores 50, doubled 100 and halved 0; plus the median time to a maintainer's first reply (an hour scores about 100, a month or more 0). A commercial card has no repository and carries none of the four.
  • Documented delivery (commercial tools) — when a vendor's documented new capabilities have slowed against its own baseline, that counts against the overall standing as heavily as two low dimensions. Steady delivery, or too little history to judge, leaves the standing alone; it is never a sixth score.
  • Open-source tools are scored on repository signals; commercial tools on their published changelog. Ranks compare tools within one category and one profile and need at least five measured peers; the overall standing needs three ranked dimensions. Best-in-breed or consolidator is a shape, not a quality, and is never scored.

  • Nov 32026

    updated Anti-cheating pipeline: recall-then-diverge detector

The anti-cheating check originally compared the agent's final patch against the known fix. An agent that writes a near-copy as its first edit and then rewrites it ends up with a low final similarity while having clearly recalled the fix. We described the pattern in the Opus 5 post; the detector now tracks the peak overlap across every edit, and checks whether security-critical strings appear in an edit before the agent has seen them in any tool output.

  • Nov 32026

updated Anti-cheating pipeline: shell file write visibility

With shell file writes, sed -i, heredocs, Python one-liners

A new parser resolves which project files a shell command modifies and recovers the written content. Across all leaderboard entries, this made 241 instances with shell writes to security-relevant files visible and confirmed five additional memorization cases for Opus 5.5.

Muse Code is the fifth agent harness on the leaderboard (after Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and SWE-Agent) and the first from Meta.

SCA scans report the advisories for affected packages like certifi and the Go standard library, and container scanning finds images with an outdated ca-certificates package. Our research team is also adding packages with hidden certificate lists to scan results as each one is confirmed.

How we count

Read from 26 of 65 release notes and docs updates we hold for Endor Labs. "First seen" is the earliest note that names something; "last" is the latest. Our history may start partway through Endor Labs's life, so an old integration can show a recent first-seen date.

Each change counts once: "added 40 checks" is one line, so the numbers measure how often coverage moves, not how big the catalogue is or how well it detects.
